First run outside! 7km...

“And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!”

And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.”           - Iian Thomas

A Journey within Hers

On the weekend of September 7th we will be walking 60km in The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers in support of our best friend, and third leg to our tripod, Jessi.  Best friends since age 12, as tweens, teens and adults; each year we would reflect about how difficult our lives were and laugh at how much harder the coming year would probably be.  We never imagined that we would be faced with the hardest talk we’d ever had to have at 27.
In mid- October Jessi was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  “I have cancer” are three words we never thought we would hear. Until then we always thought we were invincible.
Being strong for Jessi on the outside, we were faced with a journey of our own-  supporting our best friend through the toughest battle of her life, while supporting each other as we helped her through it.
It was now or never.  We set a goal- the goal unknown.  We knew we had to find strength and to do that we needed to get strong.  We met six days a week in the gym contemplating life and our spaghetti arms.  Running through emotion and pushing through the waiting room, together this was our journey to support Jessi through hers.
This past March we found out that Jessi won her battle- a battle that’s outcome was for so long feared.
With tears, hope and inspiration we signed up for the world’s largest walk to end women’s cancers.
We hope that you can find it in your heart and in your wallet to help us support women like Jessi, who will hear those three words we fear most “You have cancer”.  Every penny donated goes toward finding a cure and making sure that like our best friend, when someone close to you hears those three words, they will also hear hope.
